Fran Parkin

I currently work as a counsellor, psychotherapist, career counsellor, supervisor and trainer. I bring to this work my background in journalism, community work, public service policy development, training and teaching.

I have a Masters in Guidance and Counselling and, as a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst, I use Transactional Analysis as the basis of my work. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for people to explore themselves and to develop more satisfying and fulfilling ways of living. I am flexible in the way I work and invite clients to identify their own goals.

I am comfortable in working with a wide variety of people who face concerns from work, family and relationship difficulties.

 Areas of specialty are:

  • Relationships
  • Depression
  • Anxiety and stress management
  • Trauma (including sexual abuse)
  • Sexual issues.

I have many years of experience as a career counsellor and offer specialty services such as life/work planning and individualised career planning for people at all life stages. I can also assist with CV writing, job search strategies and interviewing skills.

I am a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors and the Career Development Association of New Zealand.
